About Us

My name is Stacey Stanley, and I am the creator of the Women’s Workout and Fitness Review Site.  This site was born out of my own desire to get moving and to get into shape.  I’m fortunate to live in the Los Angeles, CA area where the weather is nice year round, and the outdoor activities are plentiful.  But I find that to do the things I want to do outdoors, I really need to get into better shape.

I’m in my mid 40’s, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to get the extra pounds off.  I’ve tried many diets, and have failed most of them.  A few years ago, I was so desperate to lose my unwanted pounds, that I joined a weightloss program at UCLA called the RFO Weight Loss Program. This was a doctor supervised, very low calorie diet (mostly a liquid diet).  I stayed on this low calorie program for about 6 months, and lost 55 pounds, getting down to a size 6!  I was ecstatic!

Then I entered the maintenance program and met with a nutrition class once a week.  This kept me pretty steady in my weight for about 6 months.  But after that I slowly started to put the weight back on.  I put back on almost half of it the next few years, and screamed, “ENOUGH!”.  I knew I had to change something because there was no way I was going back to who I was… fat and unhappy.

So I started to exercise on a regular basis.  I joined a gym, 24 Hour Fitness, and started attending the classes.  I began to really love to sweat!  My favorite class is the Turbo Kick class… at least, now it’s my favorite.  When I first tried it, I was so horribly uncoordinated and the steps seemed so difficult for me, that I quit 20 minutes into the class (and I promise you, I am no quitter!).  But a few months later, I gave it a shot again.  I’m still not very coordinated, but I still get an incredible workout.

For those days that I’m not able to make it to the gym, I will usually put in a workout DVD and sweat at home.  I’ve tried a lot of different programs, and my desire with this site is to share my experiences with you and to hopefully inspire you along the way.

I also have the great privilege to have a personal trainer, Yalda, and she has made a HUGE difference for me. (side note: if you’re in the LA area and need an interior designer, Yalda is also an amazing Los Angeles interior designer)  I can no longer make an excuse about not working out when she is showing up at my house at 7:30!  If you can afford a personal trainer, I would encourage you to get one.  But if you can’t, there are some great workout programs that will push you to your limit.  But here’s the catch… you gotta push play!

So I’m in a good place in my fitness journey.  I still have a ways to go, but I’m confident I’m on the right path.  I’ve made exercise a priority in my life, as well as watching what I eat. I now have muscles that I never had before.  I’m even thinking about running the LA Marathon next year… and I hate running!  I guess that’s what all these extra endorphins will do for you… give you hope and desire you never had before.
